Wow, this just blew my mind. I never considered how much English took influence from non-Germanic languages. Honestly, Anglish as a form of vocabulary sounds like it could possibly exist in an alternate timeline, where Germany was the sole inspiration.

That's an interesting thought experiment. Interestingly enough, in World of Warcraft, humans use mostly only Roman-style words while orcs use Germanic-style words. So orcs will call magic users "Wizards" whereas humans will only call them "mages"
